The second Remix Play Summit will be landing in 2018. Watch this space for updates and details. You can also sign up to the mailing list to keep up to date with the event.

It will bring together educators, game makers, and anyone interested in play to explore new ways of teaching and learning. The hands on event will be packed with playful activities, hands on workshops, and high-profile educators, providing a platform to explore game based learning in Higher Education.

Creative Cultures goes to Malaysia

CreativeCulture (NEWTON) aims to expand the programme to address educational challenges within the context of inclusive learning for learners from the rural parts of Malaysia Borneo. It will involve collaborations with Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), where we will explore, exploit and experiment the impact of arts, design and culture in enhancing creative thinking and development in education (primary and secondary K12) through game design and computational thinking as an approach and instrument for fostering creative problem solving and transcultural practices in Malaysia.

Transport Research Workshop

This three part workshop will explore Crowd and citizen driven solutions for transport and mobility, bringing together Coventry University and Coventry City Council to discuss new and existing projects and initiatives being developed locally.

Workshop: Learning Through Play with ‘What Is Your Story?’

The ‘Learning Through Play with ‘What Is Your Story?’ workshop will explore ways to use the ‘What Is Your Story?’ (WIYS) play cards to design interactive, playful learning experiences in Higher Education. Presented by Lauren Heywood, co-designer of the cards, and Oliver Wood, the event will be an opportunity for academics to develop playful experiences to deploy with students

Game Changers Showcase

The Game Changers showcase is an opportunity to share game based practice around the University. A number of sessions will be available to promote best practice around game based and playful learning. The day is an excellent opportunity for those interested in using games in Higher Education to network with likeminded individuals, develop ideas, and share their experiences.

Remix Play Summit

The Remix Play Summit aims to celebrate play in Higher Education. Hosted by the Disruptive Media Learning Lab, the event will move beyond “gamification”, “serious games” and “game based learning”, and will examine the playful roots and meanings of these approaches and provide an interdisciplinary discussion space to explore the opportunities that play and playfulness can provide for both students and staff.
